Scott Gates
SENIOR COUNSEL
Scott’s practice focuses on commercial contracts, technology transactions, and privacy and data security matters. He has worked with clients of all sizes, ranging from startups to middle market companies to Fortune 500 companies, across a variety of industries, including the enterprise software, manufacturing, food and beverage, and sports industries. He joined Quadrant in 2026.
Prior to joining Quadrant, Scott practiced in the Washington, DC offices of two national law firms. He has experience representing purchasers and licensees in connection with SaaS and other cloud service agreements, software licensing agreements, and professional services engagements. In addition, he has assisted with the commercialization of technology, data, and other IP assets through licensing transactions and strategic partnerships. He also has advised B2B, B2C, and omni-channel e-commerce providers with launching and scaling e-commerce and logistics platforms.
Scott is a member of the District of Columbia Bar. He received his undergraduate degree from George Mason University and his JD from Georgetown University Law Center. Before practicing law, Scott served in multiple roles in the Office of General Counsel of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and worked as a law clerk for a boutique law firm while attending law school at night.
Scott lives in the Washington, DC area with his wife, young son, and hound mix. In his spare time, he enjoys kayaking, exercising, and reading presidential biographies. He’s an avid (though frequently disappointed) fan of DC’s professional sports teams.
